NINA Huang Paintings

Molly

Delivered this weekend in Vermont, and I got to hang out with her a bunch. It was quite a challenge to turn a black and white photo into a painting, but I really love the way this painting came out.

This was probably painted two years ago. When I turned vegan, I felt this deep newfound appreciation for fresh fruits and vegetables. I later went on to do a large painting of strawberry field (you will see it on this blog if you keep reading), and have a very oversized carrots painting that I have yet to finish. I can never just paint one subject, like cities, or landscapes, or still life, or animals. I really love painting them all! Each type of painting challenges me in a different way, and also allows me to express myself in a different way.

This painting was painted around 3 years ago, and remains one of the most popular paintings I have done. I get asked about it frequently, but it is still available for purchase! I remember when I was painting this piece, I was emotionally in a very tough place. I wanted to go to a place where I can find peace and clarity, so I just sat on my floor and started painting that place for myself. It is quiet there, peaceful and serene, where I can hear my heart’s voice. Art is absolutely my therapy. It is my life, my breath, my love, and what rescues me again and again from dark places.
